Summer on the horizon
This (school) year went by fast. Seemingly faster than ever. As summertime rolls in I have a deep yearning to slow time down - to savor each sunny moment and make more space for play, people I love, and time in nature. But much to my 9-year-old daughter's dismay- grown-ups don’t get the Summer off from work, and summertime happens to be a particularly busy time in the Namaste world. Therefore, finding the spaciousness, I crave from this season requires clear intention and action.
Meditation, scheduled beach walks with people who hold me accountable to myself, inviting friends for dinner - all on my calendar. I color code my calendar - self-care activities show up in purple. But just as important as the purple in my days and my weeks is the white space. The empty spaces that are meant for spontaneity, thinking, and reflecting. I have learned that if I have daily purple and white - I’m golden, just like a beautiful summer sunset. And get this - if I have that space, I don’t mind working hard all Summer long. I love what I do, and I am grateful for the opportunity to take care of you, and to take care of me too.
