The Power of Touch
I got an amazing taste of my own medicine this week when my partner and husband, Michael, texted our Concierge Team (yes, you can text us for anything you need - anytime!) for a 9pm massage after I told him my neck was stuck. I have been extremely enthusiastic about my New Year’s workout routine, but perhaps a tad overzealous. The best thing about pain is that it hopefully puts us on a path to healing. As we say at Namaste, Massage Therapy and Bodywork are the ‘other half’ of the running around, the doing, the fitness, the giving. Massage is about receiving, restoring, connecting and working out the kinks. Human touch has the ability to transform us and can help keep us calmer and more comfortable as we navigate the craziness. This is one of the reasons we believe in face-to-face, in-person sessions. Real connection - physical and energetic - makes a powerful difference. Bobbi Brown’s feature on Namaste this week does an amazing job of explaining why our formula yields consistently great results. My beloved friend T'ai, who also happens to be one of our Wellness Professionals who specializes in Thai Bodywork, explains it beautifully: her intention is to create a “personally designed approach to experience wholeness, vitality, and balance.” So working out until our neck hurts is one thing, but consciously integrating Massage and Bodywork as part of our normal routine is entirely different and will lead to a more balanced, thriving existence. As a mother, wife, daughter, teacher, advisor, and entrepreneur, fine tuning the ingredients of my own integrative self-care is a constant work in progress. One non-negotiable touch practice I have is hugging my children and husband daily, intentionally, and with mindful presence and embodiment - whether my teenager likes it or not! ;)
As always, I would love to connect with you, it's my favorite thing to do. You can always book a complimentary Discovery Call with me here.
